Erlean Crabtree

Dateline: Fuquay Varina

 

Erlean Crabtree, 89, passed away on Saturday morning from heart failure. She was born in Pamlico County. She has resided in Fuquay-Varina for the past 50 years. She was a active, faithful charter member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Willow Springs. She served I many capacities at New Hope. She was always helping others and was a well loved member of her church. Her passion was gardening.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Crabtree, her sister C. Lestean Harvell of Fuquay, her brother Victor McCotter of Willow Springs. Surviving her are her son Ralph Crabtree Jr. of Fuquay, former daughter-in-law Nancy Crabtree of California, two grandsons and daughter-in-laws, James Thomas and Denise from Raleigh and John David and Zemina (Sammie) Crabtree from Oregon, as well as seven nieces and nephews.

 

There will be a visitation June 1, 2009 from 6-8pm at Williford Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held June 2, 2009 at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Willow Springs at 11am with burial to follow at Primitive Baptist Church in Willow Springs. Lori Carol Picard

Lori Carol Picard, 51, passed away from breast cancer on May 30, 2009 at her home in Fuquay Varina, NC. Lori was born Lori Carol Browning on April 16, 1958 in Durham, NC. She was raised in Durham, NC and was a graduate of Northern High School. In her early adult years she was employed by Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Chapel Hill. She later resided in Houston, TX, Woodbridge, VA, Mandeville, LA, Roseville, CA, and finally in Fuquay Varina, NC.

 

Lori is survived by her husband David Anthony Picard and sons Ryan Anthony, Sean David and School Thomas Picard. Lori was preceded in  death by her parents Kenneth Ray Browning and Joyce Carolyn Watson, her paternal grandparents William David Browning and Elizabeth Pauline Browning and maternal grandparents Thomas Andrew Williams and Maggie May Ward.

 

Lori is also survived by her step-father Donald K. Watson Sr. and his wife Margaret, sisters Cathy Browning Rudsill and husband Terry L., Brenda Browning Lasater, Donna Watson Callahan and brother Rocky Watson Jr. and wife Sana, step-brother Stephen R. Robinson and wife Debbie. Two brothers preceded Lori, Thomas Bryant Browning and Mark Andrew Watson. Lori had 17 nieces and nephews.

 

Services for Lori will be held at Williford Funeral Home, 201 East Academy Street, Fuquay Varina, NC on 11am, June 3, 2009 followed by burial at Wake Chapel Christian Church, 905 Wake Chapel Road, Fuquay Varina, NC.

 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all family and friends who have sent cards, flowers, letters and telephone calls in support of Lori during her seven year ordeal with breast cancer. The family also would like to thank the personnel at Sacramento, California Hematology and Oncology Clinic medical care. Wilda Arnold Thompson

Wilda Arnold Thompson, 84, of 6794 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina, passed on Thursday, May 21, 2009. Wilda was born on May 5, 1924 in Harnett County near Baptist Grove Baptist Church. She was the sole surviving and youngest child of Lonnie Frank & Nolie Arnold. She is preceded in death by her sons, Jesse Wade Bowling Jr., Ted Randy Bowling, daughter, Cindy Thompson Lamm, two grandchildren and 19 brothers and sisters.

 

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters Judy Bowling Talton and husband Sheron and Paula Thompson Wall and husband Shelby of Fuquay-Varina. Stepdaughter, Sonja Thompson Yagel of Rougemont, stepson, James Samuel Thompson III of Durham. Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be Saturday May 23rd between 7 – 9 PM at Williford Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina, all other times at the home of her daughter, Judy B. Talton, 6794 Christian Light Rd., Fuquay-Varina. Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 24th at Williford Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM. Rev. Jimmy Talton will officiate. Charlie Gray Arnold, 59, passed away at Wake Medical Center, May 21, 2009.Charlie was born in Harnett County to the late John and Ruby Arnold. He is also preceded in death by his brother Preston Kinton.

Mr. Arnold leaves behind his brothers, John Edward Arnold, wife Nancy, and Tommy Arnold (wife Bootsie); sisters, Joyce Frazier, husband Roby, Betty Denton, husband Bobby, Linda Page, husband Dewey, Shirley Riordan (husband Bob), Brenda Arnold, and Patsie Ferguson.

Noel Betts Fuquay

Noel Betts Fuquay, 80, of Fuquay-Varina, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Rawls Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Williford Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Noel Fuquay, or “PaPa” as he’s been referred to since becoming the world’s greatest grandpa 25 years ago, was a husband of 56 years, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, loyal friend, and hard worker. He spent over 25 years as a dedicated employee of Georgia Pacific, buying and selling lumber across the South. Noel coached Little League Baseball in Fuquay for years, and didn’t know a stranger in town. He was a member, and former Deacon, of Rawls Baptist Church. Noel was as well known for his smile and stories as he was his impatience and driving record. Aside from his family, a few notable loves were fresh butterbeans and cornbread, the Andy Griffith show, Volkswagens, college basketball, hamburger steak, blowing leaves, peanut butter and crackers with chocolate milk (for breakfast, mind you), and keeping his checkbook balanced to the penny.

Mr. Fuquay is survived by his wife, Lila Mangum Fuquay; son, Ronnie Fuquay and wife, Leslie of Chapel Hill; son, Randy Fuquay of Fuquay-Varina; granddaughters, Amanda Fuquay of Fuquay-Varina, and Heather and Katie Fuquay and their mother, Pam Fuquay of Beaufort. M. Fuquay was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Everett and Maggie Betts Fuquay of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Edsel Fuquay of Fuquay-Varina; sister, Rheunelle Fuquay Ashworth of Fuquay-Varina. David Lynn Talton

David Lynn Talton, 41, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009. Born in Raleigh, NC on September 13, 1967. David lived at the Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven, NC. David is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Louise Clemmons and Grandfather Dewey Kornegay Jr. and paternal grandmother Ruby Partin Talton.

 

He is the son of Lee Von Talton and Gail Kornegay. David is also survived by his step-parents, Glenda Talton and Larry Rose. Grandfather Herman Cle Talton, sisters, Rhonda Talton Hayes of Clayton, NC and Crystal Michelle Mihansky of Williamsburg, VA. Brothers, Jason Samuel Talton of Four Oaks, NC and Truman Lee Talton of Raleigh, NC. David has two stepsisters and three stepbrothers, nine nieces and nine nephews.

 

Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 21 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1459 White Memorial Church Rd., Willow Spring, NC. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Nellie Grace Wood Beal

Nellie Grace Wood Beal, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to her heavenly home with Jesus on May 7, 2009 at the age of 75. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Florine Wood, four brothers and one sister.

 

A Wake County resident all her life, Nellie grew up in the Fuquay-Wilbon area and resided in Cary for the past 55 years. She has been an active member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Camp Clearwater Chapel of White Lake, where she was a piano player for 20 years.

 

Surviving family is; devoted husband of 59 years, J.T. Beal, children Danny Beal and wife Joyce, Cathy Waters and husband Jim and Wayne Beal and wife Joanne. Sisters, Betty Doris Allen and husband Willie and Brenda Gail Spence and husband David. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of adoring extended family and friends.

 

The family will receive visitors at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Piney-Grove Wilbon Rd., Fuquay-Varina for a visitation on Saturday, May 9th from 4 – 6 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Monday, May 11th at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family extends great appreciation to Hospice of Wake County and the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of Wake Med of Cary. Their compassionate and loving care for Nellie brought comfort to her and her family.
