Dateline: Willow Springs

Emogene Woolard, 88, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at The Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh. Mrs. Woolard was born in Granville County to the late George Hunt and Glenda Bell Smith. Mrs. Woolard is preceeded in death by her husband, Willie Gaston Woolard.

She is survived by her children, Taylor Woolard and wife Wanda of Knightdale and Teresa Johnson and husband Danny of Garner. Four grandchildren, Clint Woolard, Travis Woolard, Carey Johnson and Portia Sellers. Sister, Cassie Metts of Ga. and four great grandchildren along with many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 23 at Williford Funeral Home from 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services for Mrs. Woolard will be held at Mt. Pleasant Prebyterian Church on Tuesday at 2 PM. James Smith, 78, passed away at Wake Medical Center Saturday, February 14, 2009. Mr. Smith was born in Lee County to the late Rufus Lewis and Magratha Permenter. He is also preceeded in death by his wife Joan Smith, his son Steven Smith, and his grand daughter Jolene Ellis Kraft.

Mr. Smith served in the Airforce, was a fireman in Burlington, NC, and retired from Sears after 30 years of loyal service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Smith is survived by sons David Smith of Morrisville and Mark Smith, wife Rhonda, of Raleigh, daughter Deborah Ellis, husband Thomas, of Fuquay-Varina, sister Judy Holmes, husband Richard, of Hall River. He also leaves behind nine grand children and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral Service for Mr. Smith will be Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Williford Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00PM. A visitation will held at Williford Funeral Home Monday, February 16, 2009 from 7-9PM. Cora Lee Howell, 82, passed away at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center. A visitation will be held at Williford Funeral Home from 1-3 pm, February 5, 2009. A funeral service will follow at 3pm with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Raymond German, born April 25, 1945, died February 1, 2009 at his home, just outside of Kipling. Raymond had been in declining health before he was finally called home to rest. He was a man of humble means but would give you the shirt of his back if you needed it. He is survived by his four children, Phillip, Pam, Michael, and Christopher, ten grandchildren, Wes, Dustin, Bryant, Tiffany, Austin, Noelle, Skylar, Ashlyn, Ethan, and Kristyn and five step grandchildren, Bobby, Lindsey, Riley, Liam, and Chloe. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister. Raymond was preceeded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and grandson Nicholas. We will all Miss Raymond, but know he is a better place, at home with the lord.

Alfred Limuel Howard, 75, passed away at Capital Nursing Home, January 24, 2009. Mr. Howard was born in Chatham County to the late Ernie Limuel Howard and Lona Gates.

Mr. Howard is survived by his son, Darrell Howard of Raleigh, brother, Purvis Howard and sisters, Polly Moore, Fran Whitman and Charlotte Miller along with a very special friend, Katherine “Kate” Pilkenton and many nieces and nephews.

Emma Ruth Partin. 78, passed away at Cary Health and Rehab. Center on Friday, January 23, 2009. Mrs. Partin was born in Harnett County to the late John A. Monroe and Annie Bell West. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carson Partin. Mrs. Partin was a lifelong resident of Ralph Stephens Road in Holly Springs. She worked at Cornell Dubilier Plant in Fuquay-Varina for 28 years.

Mrs. Partin is survived by her sons, Leonard Partin and wife Lee of Kansas, Billy Partin and wife Judy of Apex and Randy Partin and wife Somani of Virginia. Daughters, Martha McLamb of Four Oaks and Shary Moss and husband Cliff of Selma. Sister, Maggie Mimbs of Georgia, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 26 at Williford Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina from 6 – 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church on Hwy 50, McGee’s Crossroads at 1:00PM. The Rev. Mac Fowler and Doug Thompson will officiate the services.
