Dateline: Hampstead, NC

Mr. Ralph Arverlee Stephenson, 78, passed away at home on January 14, 2009. Mr. Stephenson was born in Harnett County to the late Ralph Joseph Stephenson and Edna Griffin Stephenson. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Royce Stephenson.

Mr. Stephenson is survived by his loving wife, Vina Lee Stephenson, brothers, Larry, J.E., Jonny and Jimmy Stephenson. Sisters, Iris Hayes, Jewel Temple and Ann Stanley.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18 from 6 – 8 PM at Williford Funeral Home, 201 E. Academy St., Fuquay-Varina, NC. Helen Thomas Rollins died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Rex Hospital. She was born November 6, 1924 in Corinth, North Carolina, to Norris M. Thomas and Leetie Cox Thomas. She was a teacher of English and French at Fuquay-Varina High School then went on to retire from E.I. Dupont de Nemours & Company after twenty years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack M. Thomas.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Newell E. Rollins of Fuquay-Varina, sister-in-law Kathy Shores of Winston-Salem, nephew Brian Thomas and his wife Joanne of Graham, niece Amy Wade and husband Ron of Gibsonville, great niece Kristina Thomas of Winston-Salem, and many cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 16 at Williford Funeral Home, Fuquay-Varina. The Reverend Janet Balasko will be officiating. Visitation will occur before the service at 1:00pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Montlawn Cemetery.

David Henry Rawls, 92, of Piney Grove Rawls Road, died January 13, 2009. Henry was born on the Rawls family home place and remained on this beloved farm for the rest of his life.Henry loved people, his church, Rawls Baptist Church, and sports, especially baseball. He was very involved with baseball as a player and later as an umpire and youth coach. He was a very loving son and brother to his family. His nephews and nieces sought his freely-given attention. Henry was devoted to his church serving where needed and was a lifetime member of the choir.

He is survived by two sisters, Mattie of the home, Edith Rawls Isaacs of Virginia Beach, four nieces, four nephews, two great-nieces and six great nephews.The family will receive friends at Williford Funeral Home from 7 – 9 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Dateline: Fuquay-Varina  Durwood Wayne Jones, 54, died January 8, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father, Armistead T. Jones and sister, Donna Jones Hoefer.Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Tyson Jones and his fiancee, Diane Jiminez of Pompano, Fl. Mother, Lecter V. Jones and sisters, Judith Jones and husband Oneal Stephenson, Emily Matthews and Brenda Caudle. Brother Ronald Jones and brother-in-law, Floyd Hoefer. He is also survived by a special cousin, Steve Champion and his fiancee, Jessica Grant, as well as several nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends at Williford Funeral Home from 7 - 9 PM on Sunday, January 11 and other times at 912 Greenbriar Dr., Fuquay-Varina, NC.
