Carmen Flor Aparicio

Carmen Flor Aparicio went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, October 12, 2017. She was born in Peru to Atanasio Contreras and Florinda Roca on April 29, 1941. Mami moved her family to the United States in the early 1970s. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Juan Manuel Aparicio, her children, Marissa Clayton, Patty Bernstein and Martin Aparicio, her precious grandchildren, Carolina Aparicio, Nicolas Aparicio and Summer Bernstein, her daughter in-law, Patricia Aparicio and son-in-laws, Larry Clayton and Chuck Bernstein, her sisters, Genoveva, Nora and Ida, her brothers, Alfredo and Santiago, many nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Teddy. Mami adored all of her family and friends and she was loved by all who met and knew her.
Mami would never want to be remembered or recognized by her accomplishments. She lived to love, follow and obey her savior, Jesus Christ, and well reflected His sacrifice for others. She always strove by “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
During the last weeks of her life while battling leukemia, Mami’s faith was strong and she never gave up the hope for healing. She always reflected her love for her family and friends. On one of the days while in the hospital, she was feeling better and was so eager to pray for her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. Her deep desire was for all to come to the knowledge of Christ.
One of her legacies was being a peacemaker. She always strived to nurture love, harmony and unity among her family. She loved to cook and enjoyed so much sharing it with family and friends. Even though, she was limited in her mobility by the knee replacements, she never complained and always served others with a smile.
We are so thankful to God for the years she gave Mami to us, she leaves a big emptiness in our hearts but we are at peace that she is now enjoying the glory of God.
Her family will greet friends at Williford Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14 from 6-8 PM. The funeral services will be on Sunday, October 15 at 2:00 PM at 201 E. Academy Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Interment will follow at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.
