Bernice J. Blanchard
Bernice J. Blanchard, 89, born on September 20, 1923 to Everett C. and Chloe Penny Jones. Bernice graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School prior to her marriage to Roger C. Blanchard on July 2, 1949. Bernice was a beautician in the cosmetology industry until her retirement in 1990. The Lord called Bernice home on May 9, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger C. Blanchard Sr. of 62 years; five sisters, Naomi Peoples of Winston-Salem, Elsie Hoggard of Norfolk, Va, Grace Martin of Fuquay-Varina, Dolly Rhodes of Fuquay-Varina, and Joyce Jones of Laurel, MD; five brothers, Buddy of Wilmington, Wilbur of Fuquay-Varina, Everett Phenton of Fuquay-Varina, Mal of Suffolk, VA, and Tommy of Goldsboro. Bernice, previously of Vero Beach, FL, is survived by her son, Roger C. Blanchard Jr. and wife Linda of New Hope, PA; granchildren, Roger C. Blanchard III and wife Margaret of Oxford, NC, Francis Blanchard Higgs and husband Phil of Manasses, VA; five great grandchildren, Jordan, Cameron, and Tyler Blanchard, Hannah and Hallie Higgs; brother, Charles Jones and wife Louise of Raleigh; sister-in-laws, Janie of Goldsboro, Catherine Gilchrist, and Carolyn Blanchard of Fuquay-Varina. Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Williford Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina. Funeral service will be held in the Williford Funeral Home Chapel immediately following visitation. The family requests donations to the Hospice of Harnett County: 111A North Ellis Ave. Dunn, NC 28334 in lieu of flowers.

Charlie Young Davis of Fuquay-Varina, NC passed away May 9, 2013. A visitation will be held May 10, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Williford Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 9:00 am Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Williford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow directly at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Wade Bremen Dewar, 85, passed away May 6, 2013 at Rex Hospital. Mr. Dewar was born in Harnett County to the late Wade Hampton Dewar and Carrie Cotton Dewar. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Betts Dewar, children, Jewell Dewar Coats and husband Wilbert P. Coats Jr., and Benton Wade Dewar and wife Martha Roundy Dewar. Grandchildren, Candice Coats and husband Mike Davis, Bert Coats and wife Jenna Price and Jessica Dewar Beal and husband Daniel Beal. Great Grandchildren, Ryder Kelly Coats and Chase Michael Davis. Sister, Louise Turner and other siblings.

Services will be Thursday, May 9th at 11:00 AM at Holly Springs United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dewar is a Mason and member of the Holly Springs Masonic Lodge 115. He was a founding member of the Holly Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Retired from Progress Energy after 41 years of service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Holly Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 68, Holly Springs, NC 27540.

Mrs. Lois S. Vaughan, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away on Monday,

April 22, 2013. Born in Rolesville, NC on October 17, 1914, she

was the daughter of J. Cater Scarborough and Hattie Moody

Scarborough. Lois spent most of her life in Fuquay-Varina raising

her two sons with her late husband Floyd Lee Vaughan. She is

survived by her two devoted sons, Wayne Vaughan of Fuquay-

Varina, and Bennie Vaughan of Cary, NC and wife Debra Vaughan;

her three grandchildren Erika, William and Cameron; her sisters

Linda Gay and Ruby Griffin of Wake Forest; and many loving

nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held Tuesday,

April 23, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Williford Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm at

Williford Funeral Home as well. Interment will follow at Greenlawn

Memorial Gardens.
