He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Chester and Blanche Betts Campbell, his sisters Maebelle Campbell Johnson, Rubelle Campbell Jones, Katherine Campbell Hutchinson. Brothers, Milton C. Campbell Jr. and Charles L. Campbell.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 35 years, Theresa Bowling Campbell of Wilmington, son, Sean Campbell and Suzanne Mewborn Campbell of Irving, TX. and daughter, Jaime C. Palmer and husband John of Gaston, SC. Brother, David of Selma and sister Carolyn of Clayton. Because the Campbell family was so large, there are numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and more friends than on can mention. He left so many wonderful memories for his family and wishes for their future.
Martin loved his family more that material items and everybody was always welcome in the Campbell household. There was always plenty of food and love to go around to all who graced their home. Now, Martin is in the home of the Lord and is at the ultimate peace. Those who knew and loved him will miss him terribly, but we all know that his faith kept him going through the bad times.
For over 25 years in Wake County, Martin was a general building contractor and built beautiful homes over several areas. When the building industry went slack, Martin then worked part time at Jordan Lake State Park as the maintenance mechanic for 2 years, then finally, full time at Carolina Beach State Park, where he worked for 8 years. There, he made the friends that will always remain in Theresa’s heart. When he was ill, the rest of the State Park family from all over sent cards and prayers and for that, his family will always be grateful. Martin was loved and respected for his work and his family values.
A deep heartfelt thanks is given to Southeastern Nephrology who supported Theresa throughout Martin’s illness and allowed her to take the leave of absence to take care of Martin during his last months. Their time together was proof of what true love and dedication means. They truly had a marriage bound by God.
